Family House provides a special “home away from home” for patients and/or their families who are in Pittsburgh seeking medical treatment. By offering convenient, affordable housing in a home-like environment, Family House reduces the emotional and financial stress for people facing a medical crisis in a city where they may be strangers. Family House is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charitable organization governed by a community Board of Directors.
Since its founding in 1983 by community leaders and physicians, Family House is fortunate to have provided a refuge for more than 235,000 guests who may have otherwise spent days and nights in Pittsburgh area hospital waiting rooms. Family House’s three homes located in the Oakland and Shadyside areas offer the comforts of home and convenience to loved ones – often in times of great duress – at affordable rates. Whether patients are here for treatments, trauma care, or transplants, Family House staff and volunteers give families the peace-of-mind to focus on the care of those closest to them.
Family House is grateful for the support of donors who enable us to provide affordable housing in a home-like environment. Click here to view the list of our donor family.
