Family House Welcomes New Director of Development

Sarah Surace has been chosen to serve as the new Director of Development for the 40-year nonprofit.

PITTSBURGH, PA (May 28, 2024) – Family House has announced that Sarah Surace has been chosen to serve as the new Director of Development for the 40-year nonprofit.

“I am thrilled and humbled to be joining this wonderful organization,” Surace said. “The Family House mission is one that is both near and dear to my heart, and its values are ones that I share.”

Surace comes to Family House with nearly 14 years of experience working as a director for several renowned organizations, starting as the Director of Commuter Affairs at Point Park University in Pittsburgh from 2010-2014. Surace has extensive experience in engagement, which was displayed in her time as the Director for Student Engagement for Point Park University from 2014-2017. In this role, she would develop a variety of programs such as the Pioneer Experience. The Pioneer Experience was a well-received overhaul of the student orientation system for Point Park students to reinforce a sense of community among incoming freshmen. Following this, she would transition into the positon of Director of Annual Fund & Individual Giving from 2017-2018 at Point Park. In this role, she would develop a variety of community organization campaigns. Sarah’s work with Point Park University demonstrates a steadfast commitment to community service which makes her a perfect addition to Family House.

The new Director of Development also has more than a decade of experience in a variety of management and administrative roles in higher education and nonprofit organizations, including her most recent role at Carnegie Mellon University where she served as Associate Director, Alumni & Constituent Engagement.

Surace earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Shippensburg University and a Masters of Education, Marriage and Family Therapy from Duquesne University. Sarah and her husband, Paul, reside in Rostraver Township with their daughters, Sophia and Emilia.
