Kamin Family Foundation Gift Brings New Gathering Space to Family House
PITTSBURGH, PA (May 8, 2026) – On Friday, May 8, 2026, Family House held a ribbon cutting and unveiled the Kamin Conservatory, a newly constructed, four-season “front porch”-like addition designed to provide a welcoming retreat for patients and their families staying at Family House while receiving medical care in Pittsburgh.
The Kamin Conservatory marked a significant milestone in Family House’s mission to provide safe, affordable lodging and a community of comfort and support for patients and caregivers traveling to Pittsburgh for medical care.
The project is made possible through the generosity of the Daniel G. and Carole L. Kamin Family Foundation, whose support allowed Family House to move forward with this long-envisioned enhancement to its 121-room facility. Designed by Kolano Design, the space serves as a year-round gathering place for guests facing the emotional and physical challenges of serious medical or caregiving journeys. The Kamin Conservatory provides guests with a serene atmosphere as well as a variety of beautiful plants recommended by Phipps Conservatory.

The Kamin Conservatory is now open and available to all Family House guests.
