Family House 2025 Day of Giving Recap

For many Americans, the post-Thanksgiving, pre-winter-holiday season is full of family, food, and the restlessness of consumerism. Presents to buy, deals to take advantage of, and virtual or in-person queues to wait in. Even nice things can get exhausting. We may find ourselves looking for more fulfilling ways to use our time and money.

Every year, Giving Tuesday follows Black Friday and Cyber Monday, presenting the opportunity to be generous as we take our eyes off our own lives to contemplate the needs of our neighbors.

Far more than just a day for donations, Giving Tuesday at Family House is about giving thanks and building community. Our guests had the opportunity to share their stories through notes of gratitude for Family House staff, board members, and donors. Others colored the Family House logo to decorate our walls, a small detail that makes our house feel more like a home.

Once again, we partnered with Jersey Mike’s in Bloomfield, who donated a generous percentage of the profits from sales mentioning Family House to support our mission.

We also hosted Bubba and Melanie Taylor of The Bubba Show on 100.7 Star, who joined us in our Howard Hanna Family Room to highlight the mission of Family House through interviews with current and former guests, as well as conversations with Executive Director John Plante and Director of Development Sarah Surace.

This year’s Family House Day of Giving raised over $32,000 to support patients and their caregivers who travel to Pittsburgh to receive medical care. We also welcomed twenty-eight first-time donors to our giving community!

These funds will meet the ever-growing demand for our Daily Healthy Breakfast Program, an essential part of Family House’s commitment to reducing the financial burdens on families brought about by medical emergencies.

We would like to extend our sincerest thanks to those who donated, raised awareness, or volunteered to make Day of Giving a success. Your contributions directly impact our ability to provide a safe, comfortable, and affordable environment for those we serve.

Missed last week’s fun? You can make a difference all year by donating.
