Family House would like to inform all guests, staff, volunteers, and the public of increased activity in the city of Pittsburgh during the upcoming NFL Draft taking place from Thursday, April 23 through Saturday, April 25.
This nationally attended event is expected to bring between 500,000 and 700,000 additional visitors to the region. As a result, guests should anticipate:
- Heavy crowds throughout the city
- Some road closures and modified traffic patterns
- Increased travel times and congestion
Family House Operations
Please be assured that Family House will continue to operate as normal, remaining committed to providing a comfortable “home away from home” for patients and families traveling to Pittsburgh for medical care.
Transportation & Parking Recommendations
Due to the expected increase in traffic and limited parking availability, we strongly encourage guests to plan ahead:
- Utilize the Family House Shuttle for transportation to nearby UPMC hospitals whenever possible
- Schedule roundtrip Uber rides through the Front Desk for added convenience
- Be aware that rideshare services (such as Uber) may have increased rates during this time
- Parking at Family House is available on a first-come, first-served basis
- Additional parking is available at the Aiken Parking Garage, located adjacent to Family House
- We recommend keeping your vehicle parked in one location throughout the weekend to avoid unnecessary challenges with traffic and parking
